Mission Statement
The mission of the Sault Ste. Marie & District SPCA is to provide a safe and healthy haven for all animals; to ensure the humane treatment of all animals in our care; and to eliminate the need for euthanasia as a method of pet control.
MANDATE
Ensure that all animals and birds coming in to our care are appropriately and adequately housed; that each animal's well-being, cleanliness and comfort is given priority.
Emphasize the importance of having pets spayed and neutered and the need for animals to receive regular veterinary care.
Attempt to find permanent, loving homes for unclaimed pets and those animals left at the shelter for adoption.
Assist unwanted animals towards a peaceful and humane death.
Promote a caring attitude of the family towards sound pet care and responsible ownership of all companion animals This is accomplished through media programs, various publications, adoption kits and school programs.
Encourage public involvement in both shelter activities and animal welfare through membership, volunteer service and education.
